Saw God's glory this morning

I try to go to the YMCA to work out every weekday.  The past three weeks I have not been very diligent.  This week has been different.  The skys were gray with a storm front coming in.  In some ways it matched the way I have been feeling.

While working out I noticed the sky and clouds change color from gray to a  blazing red, orange, and yellow.  I know all the science about why this happens and I also know that God is at work in our natural world.  This knowledge and certainity inspired me to write:

God Almighty

You light the sky and clouds with the glory of Your creation

The fire in the sky I see warms my soul and heart

Today I ask You to light my heart and soul on fire

So that I can be on fire for You and Your Kingdom purposes.

May the glow, warmth, and light of Your presence shine thru my life

So those around me will be drawn to

You, Your life for them, Your glory, and Your Kingdom

2010 Trip to Hawaii - Saturday

Saturday was our last day in Hawaii and since our flight was not going to leave until 11pm so we decided to to rent a car for the day.  I caught a ride with Beth, Max, and their family to the airport really early on Saturday to pick up a car at the airport.

After I got back to the resort, we loaded up our luggage and an ice chest with lunch.  We headed off to the Oahu North Shore.  Once there we found a nice park, Kaiaka Bay Beach Park to have a picnic lunch.

Here is everyone hanging out on the beach after lunch.

A good photograph of my lovely wife

Actually here is a better photograph of my sexy wife

Later we went to get Hawaiian Ice at Matsumoto Shave Ice which is where I thought President Obama liked to go for Hawaiian ice when he is home.  Here is a picture of Catalina, Benjamin and Trudy outside of Matsumoto Shave Ice shop.

There are a few more family photographs in this photo gallery.  If you would like to see some of my 'artsy photographs' of the North Shore check out this photo gallery.

The whole time we were at the resort we kept seeing the Black Pearl at a nearby dock.  The Black Pearl is the famous ship from Pirates of the Caribbean movies and we had a chance to see her underway on the east side of Oahu.  While not undersail (she doesn't use sails to move) she was moving under her own power.  Pretty amazing.

Check out more photographs of the Black Pearl in this photo gallery.

Finally we went to Nuʻuanu Pali lookout point.

Check out the remaining photographs from Nuʻuanu Pali lookout point in this photo gallery.

Afterwards we headed for a nice seafood dinner in Honolulu and to the airport.
