2010 Trip to Hawaii - Monday
Monday (7/19/2010)
Dad made arrangements for a charter bus to come pick us up early on Monday morning. How early? Oh 6am early.... The charter bus would take us to Pearl Harbor, then get Dim Sum at Legend in Chinatown and then back to the resort for the rest of the day.
We got a great driver who was very friendly and informative. He made sure we got our tickets for the boat ride to the Arizona Memorial and over to the USS Missouri in a timely manner. The only mishap was when we got back to the parking lot and found out another bus company driver hit his 'baby' (the bus he always drives) and took off part of the front bumper. We wanted maybe 15 minutes for a bus change out. And we got to stay with our original driver .
The Dim Sum was an experience and wonderful.
The Pearl Harbor memorial site was under rennovations & construction while we were there. It is a nice site and it will be even nicer when completed.
I believe this is a the USS Bowfin (click the link and learn all about the USS Bowfin's role in WWII).

This is a mobile radar station that is usually off of the coast of Alaska. It comes back to Hawaii every so often for maintenance.
List of all those who perished during the attack. The naval officer on the right is a chaplain in the US Navy.
The rest of the days photographs are here.
Then we went over to the USS Missouri. Check out the photographs in the gallery. Author: Maureen Picard Robins Manufacturer: Rourke Publishing (FL)
